Mahesh Viswanathan

Distinguished Software Engineer

Mahesh Viswanathan, Ph.D., is a Distinguished Engineer at Outshift by Cisco focused on AI/ML. Before joining Cisco, Viswanathan had leadership roles at Amazon and IBM. At Amazon Alexa, he was engineering lead for Amazon generative AI’s analytics platform, and at AWS he led a team of machine learning scientists and engineers building scalable ML solutions for customer problems. At IBM, Viswanathan was Director of Engineering and Distinguished Engineer at Watson Health and led product development for its unified data and AI platform. Prior to that, at IBM Research he led the research and development of a conversational in-car navigation system that has been deployed in all post-2009 Honda and Acura cars. Viswanathan is an IEEE Fellow.
