This post was originally published on the Ohio State University's OIED News Page.Cisco and Ohio State have recently launched a research collaboration to develop and advance key technologies, engaging researchers in Ohio State’s colleges of Engineering and Arts and Sciences. “The mission of Cisco Research is to conduct and foster cutting-edge research in areas of strategic interest to Cisco. As part of this mission, we partner with several top universities with broad research strengths to fund and work with faculty on interesting projects that can make a material impact to Cisco’s future innovations,” said Dr. Ramana Kompella, head of Cisco research. “We are super excited to have entered into a strategic partnership with Ohio State where we found several interesting projects to fund already and are exploring many more projects to fund over the next few years.” A first round of projects in the research collaboration will kick off in early 2022 focused on mutual priority areas such as cybersecurity, information and data management, and networking. Researchers involved in the round include Zhiqiang Lin, Parinaz Naghizadeh, Kannan Athreya and Srinivasan Parthasarathy. A second round of projects will launch in the spring of 2022 and add additional topics such as augmented and virtual reality, natural language processing, edge computing and others. “We are thrilled to formalize our relationship with a world-class company like Cisco,” said Alissa Comella, associate vice president for corporate partnerships at Ohio State. “By working together to advance future technology we can achieve our research mission and amplify our ability to make broad impact on the world.” Cisco is a worldwide leader in technology that powers the internet, helping customers connect, secure and automate to accelerate their digital agility in a cloud-first world.
